Northern Beaches

This project was one of the most involved builds we’ve ever taken on.
Before construction could begin, we spent over a year digging below sea level, managing groundwater with pumps, and building a thick concrete base to resist uplift pressure. A custom concrete seawall was precast and craned in over deep concrete piles to protect the home from ocean tides, wave surge, and flooding from neighbouring properties. Extensive waterproofing was carried out across the entire lower level to keep the basement bedrooms dry long-term, without the need for pumps.

The home then came together with precision. Every structural member was pre-cut offsite and delivered ready to assemble. The house includes a five-level lift and a suspended bridge spanning a plunge pool built directly above a protected tree root system. A three-quarter tonne marble vanity was inched in by eight people, and custom skylights, oversized windows, and mature palm trees were all craned into place. Every detail was carefully planned and built to suit the family and the tight constraints of the narrow beachfront site. Check back in November to see if we win the coveted Master Builders Award for best newbuild.
